Main difference
Ladder cable tray, often called cable ladder, uses side rails and rungs, leaving the bottom mostly open. Perforated cable tray uses a tray base with ventilation holes. Both support cable routing, but they are selected for different cable loads, support spans and installation conditions.
| Factor | Ladder cable tray | Perforated cable tray |
|---|---|---|
| Cable load | Better for heavy cables and long support spans. | Good for low-to-medium cable density. |
| Ventilation | Excellent air circulation. | Good ventilation through perforations. |
| Maintenance | Easy cable inspection and access. | Neat cable support with more base contact. |
| Typical use | Industrial plants, substations, tunnels. | Commercial buildings, electrical rooms, factories. |
How to decide
Choose ladder cable tray when cable weight, heat dissipation and long-span support are major concerns. Choose perforated cable tray when cables require more continuous base support, fixing flexibility and an organized routing path.
